Some words about SUMMER'S BLOG

I love peanut butter, avocado and oatmeal. Not together of course, but nearly any recipe that calls for these ingredients I'll probably enjoy. I have the misfortune of living with some food sensitivities but the extreme fortune of knowing what those sensitivities are - gluten (only mild, thank goodness), nightshades, lactose, and refined sugar. I'm not a formally trained chef, but I love cooking (and eating!) delicious, guilt-free food. I'm a fitness model, certified nutrition coach, trainer and an IFBB pro bikini athlete... and I eat 6 times a day. When I'm not in the kitchen preparing something extraordinary, I'm - in the gym, rushing off to an audition, at a photo shoot, studying nutrition, or planning a vacation. Hope you enjoy my site! All About the Green – Matcha Grasshopper

Yesterday my sis and I decided to take a gamble.  Mega Millions was around $36 mil, and we figured the odds were more in our favor. We walked down to our friendly neighborhood liquor store and filled out a couple slips.  I had finished my first set of lucky numbers and checked my wallet for how much dough I could spend on more chances at financial freedom. Ironically, I didn’t have much in the way of American currency (why can’t they take Euros?!).

I fantasized about my winning interview. “Yes, I was down to my last dollar, and not even in paper, in coins!”  I would obviously leave out the mention of my Euros, Dinars, Dirhams, and Lira. Haha

Well, I work another day. Didn’t hit it big this time around. On the flip side, I got a huge fitness casting, so I need to clear my head of vacationing in South of France and get focused in the gym!

And what helps me bring focus and clarity these days?! Bingo!!! Matcha! I swear I’m the little green’s personal cheerleader.

I popped into Cafe Om in West Hollywood, recently, and enjoyed one of their iced Green Tea Matcha Lattes. They used almond milk, matcha, mint, and ice. Obviously it was amazing, but like all things commercial, contains sugar, and needed a bit of cleaning up.  You’ll definitely enjoy this homemade version.

(Now if Mr Buddha can just infuse my Green with luck and prosperity, I’ll be getting somewhere!)

Matcha Grasshopper
Serves 1

1 tsp unsweetened high quality Matcha green tea powder (I use Bird Pick Shihou)
2 sprigs fresh mint
4 ice cubes
1/2 cup unsweetened nondairy milk
7 drops liquid vanilla stevia (I use Sweet Leaf)

Combine all ingredients in blender until smooth. Add 1/2 -1 cup water if needed.
