Some words about SUMMER'S BLOG

I love peanut butter, avocado and oatmeal. Not together of course, but nearly any recipe that calls for these ingredients I'll probably enjoy. I have the misfortune of living with some food sensitivities but the extreme fortune of knowing what those sensitivities are - gluten (only mild, thank goodness), nightshades, lactose, and refined sugar. I'm not a formally trained chef, but I love cooking (and eating!) delicious, guilt-free food. I'm a fitness model, certified nutrition coach, trainer and an IFBB pro bikini athlete... and I eat 6 times a day. When I'm not in the kitchen preparing something extraordinary, I'm - in the gym, rushing off to an audition, at a photo shoot, studying nutrition, or planning a vacation. Hope you enjoy my site! Sunday Funday – Weho Pride and Real Housewives!

I haven’t been wanting to leave the house for anything fun lately. I’ve been waking up early, going to sleep late and I know it’s because I’m one week away from my first pro show. It’s not just the excitement and anticipation, it’s that I’m constantly cooking, working out, and grocery shopping! I feel like the days are just getting shorter and shorter, and I’m constantly playing catch up. I guess I have to be honest with myself. I’m getting my certification in nutrition and one of the most challenging courses for personal training, I’m writing a cookbook, blogging, auditioning, going to workshops, shooting for jobs, training, cooking. This list goes on, and I’m worn out!

I don’t have time to watch a whole lot of TV, but I got used to that while overseas. My choices were limited. It was either Harry Potter, Dexter, BBC or Dance India Dance (in Hindi!). After having my share of the before mentioned, I realized I could stream old shows on free chopped TV sites. Hulu and the other legit streaming sites wouldn’t work in India so I had to resort to piracy… it’s horrible… I know.

Dancing with the Stars was my first choice of entertainment as I loved watching the duos  spat during practice, tripping over their toes, then tear up the dance floor with clean, polished perfection each week. It reminded me a bit of my own competing experience – nothing is glamorous when you’re grunting out each rep and wiping sweat from your brow on the day to day, but ooh wee, the day the stage calls, you could swear that we are naturally gifted, poised, bronzed, and muscularly blessed!

All that judging would rile me up though, so I needed some dumbed down humor to help me relax. My secret obsession? Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Atlanta!  Honestly, I’ve always loved the Bev Hills cast, partly in fact that I used to work for Lisa Vanderpump at Sur, but also because every now and then I catch my friends and running grounds on the show (it’s like the reality version of Entourage!). Real Housewives of Atlanta though?! There is just so much drama and diva behavior… I love it!

So when my dearest sister (www.TamaraTWhite.com) called me saying that she had two VIP tickets to the West Hollywood Gay Pride festival this past Sunday, and Nene “I’m rich” Leakes from RHoA would be present, I pulled myself together for a bit of fun.

My sis and I got to the festival quite early, and although packed, things were still a bit PG. We hit up the tents, gifting suites, and NoH8 booth first.

I was a bit bummed that Pride was so commercial this year, and the relentless sales pitch from each booth became exhausting. We both had training and errands to run, so we decided to head to Santa Monica Blvd. for some float action before leaving.

The Fubar float was packed to the gills with hotties, bodies, and babes and the house music they were blasting inspired me to do a mini gig.  There were a couple random guys walking down the Blvd. and I couldn’t tell if they had nervously separated from their pack or if they were representing themselves, but to each his own. That’s when I saw her! haha In all her beauty pageant waving, fake tear crying glory!

*I had to fight a sea of chonie wearing boys to get this pic up close

So that was it. I had my fun, I got my shots for Instagram, represented for NoH8, and was ready to go. As we crossed through the path of floats to get to our car, my sister said, oh hey, look, Sur has a float! Really? I thought. I don’t remember Sur ever having a float in the past. Mrs. Vanderpump must have gotten word that Mrs. Leakes would be out there representing, and couldn’t be upstaged! Well she looked great (dripping head to toe in pink!), as did my old jefe Guillermo Zapata.  Glad that they were the cherry on top of my sundae that was 2012 Gay Pride weekend.                                                     *photo courtesy of prettyontheoutside.typepad.com
